Districts in Wuxi

JiangYin is a county-level green city in the north of WuXi.
It is a historical and cultural city of 7,000 years of human history, 5,000 years of civilization history, 3,800 years of fortification history, and 2,500 years of recorded history. It is home to Wu Culture.

With a strong private economy and over 40 listed manufacturing companies, JiangYin has ranked first multiple times in the economic competitiveness of China’s county-level cities. It was honored as “the leading prosperous county-level city in China”

HuiShan is a new district established in 2001. It consists of 1 provincial economic development zone, 5 sub-districts, and 2 towns.

It’s long history and rich culture has garnered many historical figures and sages including:

• Lu DingYi, a proletarian revolutionist
• Xue MuQiao, a proletarian revolutionist
• Sun YeFang, a famous economist and proletarian revolutionist
• Xu Shou, a scientist in the Qing Dynasty
• Feng QiYong, an elderly artist

HuiShan is known for its beautiful landscapes and its rapidly developing economy, known as “an area filled with fish and rice”
It is home to the famous YangShan honey peach.

HuiShan has led in many industries such as metallurgy, machinery, and textile. It also houses 4 newly-developed industries: renewable energy, automobiles and their parts, biomedical technology, and digital information.

XiShan district is situated to the east of WuXi city in the center of the YangTze river delta.

It houses 4 towns, 5 sub-districts, the XiShan Economic Development Zone, and the XiDong New City Business District.

It is a transportation hub connected to the ShangHai – NingBo Highway, WuXi-ZhangJiaGang Highway, WuXi-NanTong Expressway, National Expressway 312, and BeiJing-ShangHai Railway.

XiShan is the birthplace of the ancient Wu culture with an ancient town on the riverside. It is also home to two iconic cultural heritages, Wu song and WuXi opera.

LiangXi is WuXi’s downtown area serving as the political, economic, and cultural center of the city.

Being the heart of WuXi, LiangXi has the city’s largest commercial and transport centers, subway hub, and several connections to the airport and railway stations.

LiangXi district was named the national all-for-one tourism demonstration plot by the National Tourism Administration

XinWu, New District, is a newly developed district in the east of WuXi
It is compromised of 6 sub-districts:

1. WangZhuang
2. ShuoFang
3. JiangXi
4. MeiCun
5. HongShan
6. XinAn

It also hosts some industrial parks and development zones:

• WuXi High-Tech Industrial Development Zone
• WuXi (TaiHu) International Science & Technology Park
• WuXi Airport Industrial Park
• Wu Culture Expo Park

Since it’s start in 1992, it is the base for many new industries such as photovoltaics, micro-electronics, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, and biotechnology.

It’s garnered 28 national-level titles for its brands and bases as well as recognition as a national innovation park, national ecological industry demonstration zone, and national pilot zone for intellectual property.

BinHu is located in the southwest of WuXi and the north of TaiHu lake holding 108km of lakeshore line.

It has been forming a modern industrial system engaged in the advanced manufacturing industry, modern service industry, newly-developed industry, and cultural tourism.

BinHu hold a rich historical and cultural background with a take on ecotourism. It has the world-famous LingShan Grand Buddha, YuanTouZhu Isle, NianHuaWan Scenic Area, the Plum Garden HengShan Scenic Area, and LiHu Lake.

Yixing is a county-level city within Wuxi
It lies at the intersection of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces
It’s equidistant from Shanghai, Ningbo, and Hangzhou

It has 13 towns, 5 sub-districts, and 2 national development zones, and 1 provincial development zone
The national development zones are:

• YiXing Environmental Technology Industrial Park
• JiangSu YiXing Economic Development Zone

The provincial development zone is called The JiangSu Pottery Industry Development Zone

YiXing is a green city housing 8 national AAAA scenic spots.
It has garnered several honors such as “Chinese Outstanding Tourism City”, “National Environment Protection Model City”, “National Hygiene City”, and “National Ecological City”

YiXing prides itself for its 7000 years of pottery, most famously its purple clay teapot production
